Ramblas - Sea front
As we stroll down this celebrated street we'll tell you its history - from the story behind its name (and why it used to smell so much!) to the role it played during the Spanish Civil War. We'll show you how to ensure that you come back to Barcelona and take you through the most beautiful food market in the world. We'll point out the mosaic by one of Barcelona's most famous artists that most visitors will simply walk over and tell you why the Placa Real was built. We'll explain what's wrong with the great statue of Columbus at the end of the Ramblas and give you the history of this remarkable city - including why you must never call an inhabitant of Barcelona Spanish - as you walk along by the harbour.
Customer Reviews:Becky Burgess (Saturday, 19 August 2006)Rating: Loved your tour but I wanted more about the architecture and what I was actually seeing and less about the history. You're right about
the St Josep market, though. Amazing! James Howard (Friday, 18 August 2006)Rating: I did all three tours during the evenings when I was in Barcelona for business. Worked really well as Barcelona is a late city. You should probably tell people to avoid the Ramblas in the day and early evening though.
