Our Guides

Florence
We only had a long weekend to do the city and so your tour really helped us get our bearings. There's just so much to see there! I know we only scraped the surface but it worked really well for us.
Tanya Ellison - (27/08/06)

Venice
This was a great tour that took you everywhere you needed to go. Particularly liked the walk through of the mosaic frescoes on the front of the Basilica. We had a great time in Venice, made all the more special by this evocative guide. Like the speaker's voice too - one of the best I've listened to.

BARCELONA - The extention explored

Without a doubt, Idelfons Cerdà’s planning of the nineteenth Extension or Esanche, to give it its Spanish name, has shaped the look and character of Barcelona. The characteristic blocks of the Eixample, as it's known in Catalan, with their unmistakeable grid iron layout and distinctive corners are the most visible mark of the project that was thought up by Cerdà 150 years ago.

But what is left of the initial project?  This involved creating a garden or at least some greenery, for instance, in each block.  But this never transpired, it's said because of the greed or property deveoplers at the time.   So, what aspects have been maintained and what has been added? This exhibition allows a viewing of the current project, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the revolutionary Cerdà plan.
