Our Guides

Florence
We only had a long weekend to do the city and so your tour really helped us get our bearings. There's just so much to see there! I know we only scraped the surface but it worked really well for us.

Venice
This was a great tour that took you everywhere you needed to go. Particularly liked the walk through of the mosaic frescoes on the front of the Basilica. We had a great time in Venice, made all the more special by this evocative guide. Like the speaker's voice too - one of the best I've listened to.

MADRID - Brilliant at Christmas

Madrid is beautiful around Christmas and the New Year.  It’s cold but sunny and relatively tourist free, well usually, anyway.  Our guide to Madrid will take you through this exciting but little known city.

There’s plenty to do in the Spanish capital.  The big shops of the Gran Via are bustling and busy while the quirky individual places of Chueca have plenty to offer.  Bars are warm and welcoming with hot chocolate and churros (a kind of elongated donut).

You’ll also find plenty to see with the Christmas lights of the Puerta del Sol, Paseo de Recoletos and the Calle Serrano.

Perhaps most exciting is the fantasy skyline designed by architect Ben Busche which decorates Gran Via in its centenary year, complete with three large Christmas trees.
   The first, called 100
refers to the street’s anniversary and is shaped like a skyscraper.  The second, 21 metres tall and situated in the Plaza de Callao, is crowned by a spectacular Christmas star.  The third, in the Plaza de España, is a digital version of a traditional Christmas tree.
Besides the three Gran Via trees, there are nine others distributed throughout Madrid such as the one at Puerta del Sol, designed by the celebrated Spanish designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada.

There will also be fireworks. The night of the fire will be held at the Plaza de Oriente on December 17th.  This is a pyrotechnic and musical journey through the four seasons.

This year with the Copenhagen summit making the news energy consumption has been reduced by 27 per cent.
