Our Guides

Florence
We only had a long weekend to do the city and so your tour really helped us get our bearings. There's just so much to see there! I know we only scraped the surface but it worked really well for us.

Venice
This was a great tour that took you everywhere you needed to go. Particularly liked the walk through of the mosaic frescoes on the front of the Basilica. We had a great time in Venice, made all the more special by this evocative guide. Like the speaker's voice too - one of the best I've listened to.

ROME - Caravaggio and Bacon compared

On the face of it Caravaggio and Francis Bacon have little in common but this exhibition at the Villa Borghese seeks to compare the two.  Certainly their lives, although separated by centuries, were strikingly similar.

Both scandalised society – Caravaggio because of his violent temper, Bacon because of his love of drink and “rough trade”.  Timed to mark the 400th anniversary of Caravaggio’s death and the centenary of Bacon’s birth, this exhibition compares their work as well their life.  Both painters’ work is dynamic and expressive - a look at life that full on and uncompromising.  The darkness and sinister moodiness that often features in their work mirrors their lives.

The Villa Borghese, set in peaceful gardens, is a beautiful gallery any way but this imaginative and challenging exhibition should make it a priority for visitors to Rome this winter.
