Our Guides

Florence
We only had a long weekend to do the city and so your tour really helped us get our bearings. There's just so much to see there! I know we only scraped the surface but it worked really well for us.

Venice
This was a great tour that took you everywhere you needed to go. Particularly liked the walk through of the mosaic frescoes on the front of the Basilica. We had a great time in Venice, made all the more special by this evocative guide. Like the speaker's voice too - one of the best I've listened to.

ROME - Last chance to Caravaggio

Caravaggio is one of Italy’s most fascinating artists.  A dangerous, mysterious maverick, his life was full of drama and his work has a direct, natural beauty that speaks to so many of these days.

Anyone looking for Rome tourist information or planning a vacation in Rome will have the next few weeks to see his work in one of the cities in which he lived and painted.  An exhibition of his work is in its last three weeks at the Palazzo Venezia art gallery.

As we say in our Rome city guide and our Spanish Steps Rome mp3 tour the Palazzo Venezia is a wonderful backdrop for the work of this powerful painter.

The palazzo is so called because it was the home of the ambassador from the city state of Venice to the city state of Rome in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.  Today it houses a permanent collection of Renaissance art as well as temporary exhibitions.

The balcony in the middle of the building was where the fascist leader Mussolini made his rabble rousing speeches to cheering crowds in the square below.
