Our Guides

Florence
We only had a long weekend to do the city and so your tour really helped us get our bearings. There's just so much to see there! I know we only scraped the surface but it worked really well for us.
Tanya Ellison - (27/08/06)

Venice
This was a great tour that took you everywhere you needed to go. Particularly liked the walk through of the mosaic frescoes on the front of the Basilica. We had a great time in Venice, made all the more special by this evocative guide. Like the speaker's voice too - one of the best I've listened to.

Madrid

MADRID CITY GUIDE: One of Europe’s grandest but less well known cities revealed. As our guide to Madrid shows you, the capital of Spain is an elegant, sophisticated metropolis – with just that touch of Spanish passion and quirkiness.

By Taxi Taxi from Barajas airport to the city centre takes about 45 minutes, and costs about EURO 25.
Getting around:

Tourist tickets The Abono Transporte Turistico card gives you unlimited travel on Madrid public transport. It’s available at tourist offices, Metro stations and some tobacconists. NOTE: You need to give your passport number when you buy an Abono Transporte Turistico.
There are two areas covered by the system but the inner area A - as opposed to the larger T area – is enough for most tourists. Prices range from EURO 3.50 for one day to EURO 18.40 for seven days per person.

Madrid’s metro system is reasonably convenient, fast and efficient. It runs from about 6am until about 2am every day. The lines each have numbers and colours – just look at the end station to check your destination. You can buy tickets from machines and ticket office at stations. The standard fare is EURO 1.

Buses run from the early morning until late and night and there is a night bus service although taxis might be easier and safer at this time. The standard fare is EURO 1.15 which you pay the driver. Whenever possible make sure you have the correct change.

Madrid’s taxis are reasonably plentiful and affordable. They’re white with a red stripe and can be hailed in the street or hired at taxi ranks – look for the blue T sign. The minimum fare is about EURO 2 or EURO 2.40 for airport journeys plus extras for luggage. As always, check that the meter is running when you set off.
